The base model delivers16/24 mpg city/highway (16/22 for the base model convertible) while the XKR takes you 15/22 mpg. Of course, Jaguar has made completely sure that every mile traveled in the new XK is a wonderful blend of high performance and luxurious comfort. The are loads of standard features in the spacious cabin - and all of them are conveniently located - and seamlessly integrated.
While $82,000 seems like a hefty price tag, the Jaguar XK is actually considerably less expensive than most of its class peers. Substantial changes have been implemented in both the coupe and convertible XK for 2010. One of the most significant is the addition of the rotary-style gear dial that was first seen in the Jaguar XF.
They are not perfect cars, but they come very close to being. As you expect from one of the world’s finest sports cars, the XK accelerates with amazing quickness. An all-new direct injected 5.0L V8 comes in either a naturally aspirated or supercharged version. The naturally aspirated version produces 385 horses and 380 lb-ft of torque while the supercharged XKR, (rhymes with Cadillac XLR) unleashes an incredible 510 ponies and churns out 461 lb-ft of twist. These rear wheel driven street monsters are additionally powered by a 6-speed automatic transmission with controls for at-will manual shifting.
Leyland and Rover and became British Leyland Motor Corporation in 1968, but financial difficulties led to effective nationalization of the company in 1975, and then it became British Leyland, Ltd.
Jaguar was separated again in 1984, taking the Vanden Plas name with it, and was subsequently taken over by Ford around 1989. In 1999 it joined Aston Marton, Volvo and Land Rover (added in 2001) as part of Ford’s Premier Automotive Group, though it has never earned a profit for the Dearborn-based Ford.
William Lyons and William Walmsey, who were motorcycle enthusiasts. The name first appeared on a 2.5 liter saloon in 1935, but after World War II the entire company took over the name because the initials SS reminded people of Nazi Germany.
In the 1950’s Jaguar became well known for a series of stylish sports cars and elegant luxury saloons. The company bought the Daimler car company ((no relation to Daimler-Benz) from the Birmingham Small Arms Company in 1960, and used Daimler as the brand for their most luxurious saloons from the late 60s on.
Small rear-wheel drive platform to base the X-Type on

Ford CD132 platform, the basis for the 2000 Ford Mondeo. In order to distinguish it from its rivals and its Ford origins, the X-Type was initially offered as all-wheel drive only and mated to a 2.5 litre and 3.0 litre V6 petrol engine. In 2003, the X-Type was offered in front-wheel drive with the introduction of Jaguar’s first four-cylinder diesel engines, and with the smaller 2.0-litre petrol V6.
Codenamed X400, the X-Type was Jaguar’s attempt to compete in the compact executive car segment. Jaguar and parent company Ford envisaged the ‘baby Jag’ as Jaguar’s first compact 4-door. The X-Type was one of the last to be styled under the supervision of Geoff Lawson, with the principal designer credited as Wayne Burgess.
Arden Jaguar XF AJ21
16th November 2008
Despite the fact that Arden’s official images of the new Jaguar XF AJ21 appear to be the product of photoshop, the German tuning firm’s sporty outfit for the XF looks mighty nice. Arden has enhanced the Jaguars appearance with a new bodykit that includes a new front bumper with integrated LED-day lights, side sills with functional air inlets that cool the rear brakes, a rear lid spoiler and a rear diffuser that incorporates the new exhaust tailpipes.
The highly anticipated Jaguar XF-R made its first official appearance at this past weekend’s Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK. Due to be unveiled in early 2009, the XF-R is Jaguar’s answer to the BMW M5, Audi RS6 and Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG models. Though official information is scarce for now, the XF-R is said to be equipped with a new direct injection, supercharged 5.0-litre V8 delivering a tad over 500Hp which should be good enough to offer a 0 to 100 km/h (62mph) sprint time of well under 5.0 seconds.
Arden has finally released real life images and mechanical details on its latest creation, the Jaguar XF based AJ 21. The top of the line version of the AJ 21 gets a supercharged V8 engine stroked out from 4.2-liters to 4.5-liters delivering an output of about 550 HP, which should be more than enough to take the “wildcat” into M5 territory.
Today, Jaguar announced that it is recalling more than 7,900 MY2009 XF sedans in the United States for a defect in the rear safety belt assembly. Although Jaguar says there have been no accidents or injuries reported due to the problem, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration noted that in the event of a crash, a seat occupant may not be properly restrained thus increasing the risk of personal injury. Jaguar’s dealers will inspect the rear safety belt assembly and make the necessary repairs.
